Synod 2005 followed a recently established rule that it would meet for four days, instead of three. It proved to be a good rule. Although it did not appear to be so according to our first glance at the proposed agenda, there was much material to cover. Thankfully, and we can say by the grace of God, we could deal with all the material in an expeditious and brotherly way. From Monday evening’s prayer service, June 6th, to late Friday afternoon’s doxology (June 10), delegates from 19 Free Reformed consistories met for its annual synodical meetings in the comfortable air-conditioned setting (especially appreciated because of the heat-wave) of Grace Free Reformed Church at Patterson Avenue in Brantford, Ontario. Along with those delegates were also Rev. G. Hamstra, retired, and Dr. G.M. Bilkes, Theological Instructor at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary, who, both, received advisory status to the synodical meetings.
