In a culture that seems hostile to Christianity and the gospel, we tend to notice when the Christian church is covered by the mainstream media. Over the past few years, the growth of seeker-sensitive mega-churches,”[1] Bruce Wilkerson’s The Prayer of Jabez, and the movie The Passion of the Christ[2], (as well as numerous other initiatives), have been topics for public discussion. Newspaper and magazine articles, television programs, and even academic studies have focused on the growth of evangelicalism, particularly since its perceived influence on the re-election of President Bush in November 2004. Still, I must confess to surprise when almost the entire May 23, 2005 issue of Business Week regarded the impact and methods of evangelicalism. It noted that, “the triumph of evangelical Christianity is profoundly reshaping many aspects of American politics and society”[3] and in a series of in-depth profiles, highlighted various evangelical initiatives as models for business to learn from.
