British Columbia Bows on Creation

The Abbotsford School Board is throwing in the towel after a lengthy fight over teaching creationism. The Board has reluctantly bowed to pressure by Education Minister Art Charbonneau and passed a policy trustees say is legally defensible. They say it also complies with the new curriculum guidelines handed down by the minister. The guidelines do not allow for discussion of creationism in science classes. The debate came to a head last spring when the School Board refused to rescind a policy that said creationism could be discussed in science class as an alternative to the theory of evolution. (From The London Free Press, September 19, 1995).

Sorry to read that the Board bowed. I suppose it felt it better to equip students to be politically correct than to become Bible-respecting men and women.
