After the election held on December 24, 1995, which has brought an extreme Islamic party to power in Turkey, it will most likely become harder to do any kind of Christian evangelism there in the future.

Christians Deported FromTurkey
Written by Rev. H.A. Bergsma
Turkey deported four foreign visitors on October 8 for distributing Christian literature without permit. The three Americans and one South African had passed out invitations at a university for a Christian concert in Istanbul. After a hearing, a judge ruled that since the foreigners were ignorant of the law, he would release them. The police, however, continued to hold them until they had plane tickets to leave the country. The constitution of Turkey does, however, guarantee the right to distribute religious literature.
